Let it sit for an hour then vacuum. Baking soda or a coarse table salt, like kosher can be sprinkled directly onto the liquid stain. Leave for approximately 10 minutes. The liquid should be completely absorbed by then. Blot with a damp cloth or sponge after all the baking soda or salt has been removed.
Ice Cubes. For that pesky gum stuck on your carpet, you need not fret. Remember, what you did when you had gum stuck in your hair, it's the same process. One may choose between peanut butter or the ice cube method. Honestly, I prefer the latter. I really don't want to deliberately spill peanut butter in my carpet. Anywho, place the ice insid! e a zip top bag and put it directly on top of the gum causing the latter to harden. Once the gum solidifies, you can easily scrape the same with a dull knife.
Sunlight, though this is not a household item, you can use it free of charge. Almost all commercial bleaches are harmful to the environment due to its chemical composition. I bumped into this website that suggests a natural alternative, sunlight. Same possesses strong bleaching effect. Wet the stained area and leave it outside in direct sunlight. Once it dries, wet it again and keep repeating said process, until the stain has disappeared.
