Home Business Opportunities: Not all are trustworthy!

Fact: Home Business Opportunities are growing rapidly. Various options and tools are available online today.

As a matter a fact, the US Department of Labor estimated that by 2025 about two-thirds of Americans might be doing their work at home.

There are so many legitimate Home Business Opportunities that can actually help you to start the sweetest journey to financial freedom.

However, you need to research and evaluate each opportunity carefully and choose cleverly. Potential is tremendous, you can work the hours and days you desire, be with your family and most important be your own boss.

Legitimate home- business opportunities actually are extremely successful if they are long term businesses and not "quick get rich schemes". It is a child's mind that you cannot get millionaire over night. So beware.

Some of the most important guidelines to determine if the company is a scam or not:

1. You must evaluate the company. Visit their s! ite. Check with the Better Business Bureau and other business and consumer organizations online to determine if the company is indeed a legitimate business home- business opportunity. You might be curious for how long that business opportunity is in business.

2. Outsource the product. Find anything you think it is important for a potential customer to know about your product. A company with marketing efforts geared towards getting people to sign up is considered as getting into a pyramid scheme as outlined by the Federal Trade Commission. HINT: Internet is a free place to outsource. Use it.

3. You might be interested for the approach the company uses. If you get the feeling that their product lacks in importance, it probably is. If it looks way to simple to be truth, it probably is. And so on. You really can make money "while you sleep" but that needs some exercise and experience. Is the company providing all that?

4. There are companies that require p! ayment for information or materials. Some information worth ot! her does n't. You might get pretty sure of what you're paying for. Otherwise, you can't get a home business opportunity without spending some money. Opportunities that work have some investment made so far. And the owners are not likely to sell it. Pay close attention to your budget though. You don't want to invest more than you can afford. Start small. Get bigger and bigger.

5. Check out the company's customer support. Check out if true persons can attend to you in case you need help and not just automatic replies that answer your calls.

While there's really no proven way to determine that a company is offering a legitimate business home- opportunity, there are clues and indication that can show you.

Remember, when in doubt, better turn around and look for another. Never be hasty with your decisions. The right timing will come, in due time.

  • Nice post. I want to run a business one day, and I've thought about a home-based one. I agree, a lot of them can be very shady. I’d like to buy a business instead of starting one from scratch, but I haven't found many good opportunities that sound legit. Any suggestions? Advice? Thanks.

  • @Jennifer: If you want to run a business I suggest looking into local small business groups in your area for help and support.

I also highly suggest BizTrader.com, which is an online global marketplace where you can buy a business, and even sell a business. You can also use it to find a lender or broker, should you need either. It's a good place to find a business on the Internet, home-based or not. Good luck!
